    2015/56th BAY BOTTOM CRAWL

The 2015/56th Bay Bottom Crawl was held February 14th and 15th. This year, the overall FTD went to Norman Fucini in his Lola T440 with an overall time of 2:15.710. The ladies FTD went to Lauren Diruzzo in a Subaru STI with an overall time of 2:32.903. Congratulations to both. For a complete listing of entrants and results, go to the Bay Bottom Crawl link on our website.

Also, a thank you to all those who volunteered to put on the event – club members, other entrants and friends of the club. With out your assistance, we could not have conducted this event.

The BBC is a combination Solo I and Solo II event held in the lower Florida Keys and is probably the longest and fastest Autocross in the country. The course is approximately 2.25 miles in length with nine stations of obstacles. The road that is used for the event can be found on the website as well.

The next college events will TENTATIVELY be Sunday May 3rd (The return of Withershins) and Sunday June 21, at the Florida Keys CC on Stock Island. Other than the Bay Bottom Crawl (Saturday and Sunday), all events are held on a Sunday. The emphasize of the college events is more on driver control maneuvering through a course rather than all out speed. Token trophies are awarded at the end of the event. After the event, those interested gather at Boondocks for lunch and to brag or commiserate. Assistance from entrants is always needed to set up club equipment at 9 am and to break down after the event. A flyer with more information is available under “Upcoming Events”.

    LOST AND FOUND:
Found at the 2015 Bay Bottom Crawl, a towel and a tire air gauge, on the left side of the road past the timing and control. If it is yours, contact us at the website, provide more information on the items and we will mail it to you.

2016 Bay Bottom Crawl dates have been set for October 7-9, Columbus Day weekend holiday (October 10). These days were chosen so out-of-town entrants have reasonably priced hotel costs. Friday the 7th will be a set up day, entrants can paddock their cars and registration will be held in the evening. Saturday the 8th will be practice runs with the banquet in the evening and Sunday will be official timed runs with the trophy presentation afterwards. For more information on the BBC, see the Bay Bottom Crawl link on this website which also includes a course map. The Bay Bottom Crawl is 2.25 mile combined Solo I and Solo II event; probably the fastest and longest autocross you will ever drive.
